3 Secrets to Being Healthier & Staying Fit for Road Warriors

March 2, 2018 Do a Day, Fitness, Inc Magazine 0

This article is a longer version of a piece I originally wrote for Inc. Magazine and on my blog. I have traveled a lot over my career–it is often an every-week situation with two to four flights, hours of driving, multiple hotels in the same week, early mornings and late …

Have a Big Goal But No Clue How to Get There? Here’s Why Dominoes Can Help

February 22, 2018 Advice & Philosophy, Inc Magazine 0

Creating a clear mental image of your ultimate goal allows you to map all the steps you need to take. The night before I started writing my first book, I was on a call with a mentor I’ve turned to for advice and guidance. He asked me about my ultimate …

Elon Musk Shows That This 1 Trait Is the Key to Success (It’s Not Confidence)

February 15, 2018 Inc Magazine 0

Success depends on more than confidence–you need to see the challenges, adapt, and move forward. Back in 2013, The New Yorker published a piece about a number of studies showing that startup founders are notoriously overconfident, and how this was crucial for their success. My Inc.com colleague Geoffrey James responded with a great article with five steps …

How Apple Should Respond to Investor Demands to Protect Kids From iPhone Addiction

February 6, 2018 Inc Magazine 0

Taking action before it’s forced to could be a smart move for Apple. Here’s why it isn’t. Just as the public attention to “Battery-gate” was dying down (or is it?), Apple faced yet another controversy that has yet to earn a “-gate” name. Two large, institutional investors publicly called for …

I want to shout this from the mountaintops, because it is a FACT! Being in the Health & Wellness space for the last decade I have been very aware of the mental health crisis our country, and our world, has been in for a long time now. In addition to anxiety and depression, the truth is that isolation is nothing new, either. It is just a rule now, making loneliness even less of an exception. As this pandemic has dragged on my concern has grown about the surge of traumatized, lonely, stressed, and overwhelmed people out there as a result. I knew I HAD to do something about it, so I dove into 2 levels of Mind-Body Medicine training programs so I could be part of the healing solution.
💫
Before the holidays I put it out there that I would be starting a Mind-Body Medicine Stress Reduction & Trauma Healing Group in January, and I have gotten a lot of questions about what that even is, so I wanted to provide a little more information here in written form. (I will also be hosting some Facebook/Instagram Lives to share more and answer questions.)
💫
I have to admit that it is extremely difficult to put into words what happens in these groups. Just like with any individual, a group is unique and takes on its own identity, but one constant I have always witnessed (both as a participant and group leader) is that everyone walks away changed for the better. I will start with the basics...
💫
LOGISTICS:
We will meet once a week, for 2 hours, for 8 consecutive weeks (brains, genes, & inflammation can change in this amount of time - so exciting!) We will be starting the weekend of January 23rd, either Saturday or Sunday, and the exact 2-hour time-block is TBD (I want to accommodate participant Time Zones, etc. as well as possible). We will be meeting on my secure professional Zoom account. *Group size will be 6-10 people.
💫
WHAT/WHY:
Each week we will do a check-in, followed by learning a little bit about the science/research behind Mind-Body Medicine and specific techniques, then we will experience and practice those tools together (or the “experiential” portion), followed by sharing what it was like for us. As with any...
