You may be asking, “What is adrenal fatigue?” Or, actually, you may be asking, “What is ‘adrenal'”? ‘Adrenal’ refers to the adrenal glands, which sit above the kidneys and are part of your body’s ability to handle stressful situations and keep you going in the face of danger – think ‘fight or flight’.
While the body is amazing at performing in the toughest of situations, the way we live today has a bad habit of triggering this response too frequently, and keeping it triggered too long. The result is that the system starts to wear out, and your adrenals basically get run down. Work stress, diet, exercise, sleep, relationships, illness – all of these things factor into the mix.
I recently wrote a guest piece on DaiManuel.com on adrenal fatigue to help you better understand it and, most importantly, how to address it because living in a way that fatigues your adrenals is no way to enlighten.your.body.
